“Life's most persistent and urgent question is, “What are you doing for others?”  Martin Luther King, Jr

As a lifelong Trenton resident and community advocate I would like you to know that I am ready, willing and able to “Transform Our Needs Into Action.”

I am a product of the Trenton public school system and I have obtained advance degrees from Trenton State College and Central Michigan University.  My career as a Social Caseworker coupled with a commitment to public service has lead me to a position with the State of New Jersey where I address affordable housing and community development needs.

For the past 10+ years, I have always been committed to serving Trenton residents through public service. I have achieved great satisfaction working with various populations, including my neighbors, the homeless, elderly, children, and people with disabilities. My work has focused on lean streets, enforcing landlord responsibility, demanding accountability for students, and working with the police regarding the complex public safety issues that persist in East Trenton.

State of New Jersey, Department of Community Affairs, Division of Housing

As an Affordable Housing Specialist, I have over 10+ years experience in commercial real estate development. I work passionately to develop State-wide housing programs to assist residents, local, county and state governments and developers to develop affordable housing and lease to very low to moderate income families. I also monitor programs for quality control to ensure the integrity of the housing programs directly.

Mercer County Board of Social Services

City of Trenton

My career skills include developing, administering, and coordinating public assistance programs in Mercer County. As a Social Worker for the City of Trenton and Mercer County, my focus was to work closely with Work First NJ participation’s to achieve the goal of self-sufficiency. My responsibilities included assessing and promoting job training, educational and work activities that produce a qualified workforce from Trenton and Mercer County residents. However, when it is not possible for people to go to work, due to a disability or other reasons, I help to provide services to customers who need specific assistance in order to acquire and sustain the necessities of life, such as affordable housing and sustenance.

SERV Centers of NJ

At SERV, I shared my experience, support and guidance with adults and families as they work to recover from and cope with mental illness, addictions, challenging behaviors, and developmental disabilities. By coordinating and providing specialized services to fully integrate consumers into family life, implementing treatment plans, and coordinating activities, I helped them reach their potential and live happy and satisfying lives.

I have learned that community engagement is the driving force behind change.  People tell me they want to be informed and they want to be included. With my background and experience as a Social Worker and Job Developer in the human service field, combined with my working housing, I am confident that I can continue to make a difference in Trenton as your East Ward Councilwoman.  Coming together is the beginning.  Staying and keeping together is progress.  Working together is SUCCESS!  -  Henry Ford
