Battle Monument (800) 843-6420.  A 150-foot tall edifice, commemorating the American victory at the first Battle of Trenton, NJ. It is located in an area of the city known as "Five Points." It was here, at the intersection of North Broad Street, Warren Street and Brunswick, Pennington and Princeton Avenues. Open from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.

Contemporary Victorian Museum 176 West State Street (609) 392-9727 or (609) 882-3726. This restored Victorian townhouse features Life in Victorian New Jersey, a one-hour program and tour about the lifestyle of the Victorian period (1840-1900). By reservation.

Ellarslie: The City of Trenton Museum located in Ellarslie Mansion, an Italianate villa built in 1845 in what is now Cadwalader Park. The museum houses a fine collection of art and artifacts related to Trenton history.

Meredith Havens Fire Museum The Meredith Havens Fire Museum is located at Trenton Fire Department headquarters on Perry Street at Route 1. The museum showcases the history of the Trenton Fire Department that stretches back more than two centuries. The collection of antique apparatus and fire department memorabilia is unique in the region. 

New Jersey State Museum P.O. Box 530, 205 West State Street, 08625, (609) 292-6464, Fax: (609) 599-4098. Features American art of the 19th and 20th centuries; planetarium, children's theater, Native American artifacts, films, lectures, and special events. Open Tues. through Sat., 9 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.; Sun., Noon - 5 p.m. Closed Mondays and holidays.

New Jersey State House 125 West State Street, 08618, (609) 633-2709. One of the oldest capitols in the county with beautifully restored interior spaces. Tours begin in the rotunda every hour, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays, and from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. Closed Sundays and state holidays. Reservations needed for groups. Admission is free.

The Old Barracks Museum, originally built in 1758 to house troops during the French and Indian War, is best remembered for its role in the 1776 and 1777 Battles of Trenton during the Revolutionary War. The mission of the Old Barracks Association is to preserve the Old Barracks building for future generations, to conserve the historical collections it houses, and to design programs and educate the public about early American culture, the history of Colonial and Revolutionary New Jersey and the history of the Old Barracks.

The 1719 William Trent House Museum
15 Market Street, 08611, (609) 989-3027. Has furnishings dating from 1675 to 1750.  The house offers practical insights into Colonial life as it was lived, by the wealthy and their servants and slaves. The house also features a colonial garden. Open daily 12:30 to 4:00 p.m.

Old Masonic Lodge (609) 777-1770.  Built in 1793 as a meeting place for Trenton's first Masonic body, it is currently being restored. The Old Masonic Lodge contains collections of Masonic and general interest.
