The Department of Finance is responsible for the accounting of all City revenue and expenditures, for  custody of receipts and the disbursement of City funds, and for safe guarding  the City's financial interests in accordance with state statutes.

It is comprised of the Tax Assessor's Office which includes

The Tax Assessor's Office is responsible for establishing the value of exempt and taxable property located in the City of Trenton. It reviews applications for tax exemptions and abatements. The Assessor's Office also maintains current tax maps of the city as a public record noting all changes in ownership or character of real property.  If you are a property owner and have questions about your property tax assessment, or need additional information on properties located in the City, please contact the Assessor's Office.

Property Tax Deductions

Property owners who  are permanently disabled, senior citizens, or veterans may qualify for a property tax deductions if they meet income and residency requirements.  For your convenience, property tax forms are available online at our Virtual Property Tax Form Center and also in our main Forms Center. The Tax Office is responsible for billing and collecting real estate taxes. For questions about your bill, payments or homestead rebates, please contact the Tax Office.
