The department is responsible for the oversight and maintenance of the City's parks, trees and other natural resources.  It is also responsible for coordinating the development and the operations of cultural and heritage activities.  The department implements and manages programs to enhance the quality of citizen's lives through active and passive recreational opportunities, as well as the planning and implementation of special events in the City of Trenton.  In addition, the Division of Recreation also operates the award-winning, nationally recognized S.C.O.O.P. after school program in the City of Trenton for youth and young adults 7-18.
