The Health Officer is responsible for providing services that fall under N.J.S.A. 26:1A-15 and 26:3A2-1 et seq. Public Health Practice Standards of Performance for Local Boards of Health. These services include:

Þ    Public Health Nursing

Þ    Environmental Health

Þ    Community Public Health Partnerships

Þ    Monitoring Health Status and doing a Community Health Assessment

Þ    Countywide community health planning

Þ    Emergency response capability

Þ    Surveillance

Þ    Preventive Personal Health Services and Access to Health Care

Þ    Health Related Research

Þ    Recreational Bathing

Þ    Campgrounds

Þ    Youth Camps

Þ    Food Surveillance

Þ    Occupational Health,

Þ    Public Health Nuisances,

Þ    Communicable Disease Activities,                                                   

Þ    Immunizations

Þ    Rabies and Zoonosis Control

Þ    Tuberculosis Control

Þ    Sexually Transmitted Diseases


Þ    Maternal and Child Health Activities

Þ    Childhood Lead Poisoning

Þ    Adult Health Services to include:

o   Cancer Services

o   Diabetes Services

o   Cardiovascular Disease Services

o   Health Services for Older Adults


The Division consist of the following Communicable Diseases, Clinical Services, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, HIV Prevention/IMPACT Van, Lead Case Management, School Health Immunization Surveillance/Health Education, Bureau of Environmental Health, Trenton Animal Control Office (TAS),
