Just as many studies show children thrive when they have wholesome, supervised activities to keep them busy during those crucial hours. SCOOP (609-989-3628) is Trenton’s nationally recognized enrichment program for young people ages 6 to 18. SCOOP offers sports, crafts, tutoring, mentoring and many more programs after school and Saturdays at safe, supervised locations throughout the City. During the school year nine recreation centers - four operated by the City and five by the Trenton School District - provide educational and cultural activities for Trenton youth . These after-school programs are free to Trenton residents. Activities provided at the recreation centers include homework assistance/tutoring, mentoring programs,self-development/self esteem training, health and public information workshops, cultural and special events, gymnastics, ground hockey, dance classes and a variety of other activities.
