Vital Statistics - Dog Licenses
A license is required for all dogs six months or older kept within the city of Trenton. Dog licenses are to be renewed by January 31st. You will need to present a copy of your pet’s proof of rabies vaccination and, if applicable, a certification from a veterinarian stating the dog has been neutered or spayed.

The license must be renewed during the month of January each year. Otherwise, you will be charged an additional fee beginning February 1st. Licenses issued after the 31st of January will be subject to a surcharge of $15.
Under state law N.J.A.C. 8:23A, the immunity of the rabies vaccine should extend at least within ten of the twelve months of the license. You cannot get a license if the rabies vaccination expires before November 1st.

If your dog has been spayed or neutered, the license fee is $12. It will cost $15 if the dog has not been sterilized. It is important that the certification of rabies vaccination and the sterilization certification is sent or presented - otherwise the license will not be processed.
