Division of Solid Waste Management

The Division of Solid Waste Management is responsible for the collection and disposal of solid waste materials, including bulk items. The Division has implemented such initiatives as the Cleaner Vision Program and the Graffiti Blasters Program to help beautify our City.

Recycling

For information regarding recycling please call The Mercer County Improvement Authority at 609-278-8086. Residents can pick up recycling buckets at 707 Calhoun Avenue with a valid NJ Driver's Licence or proof of City residency between the hours of 8 a.m. to 3 p.m, Monday through Saturday. and no longer at MCIA.

Bulk Items

The Division of Solid Waste Management offers a special pick up for large bulk items. Bulk items include furniture and household appliances. For more information or to schedule an appointment for a special pick up, please call 609-989-3175, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Graffiti Blaster's Program

The Graffiti Blaster's Program provides equipment and manpower to remove graffiti from City of Trenton buildings. The cornerstone of this program is the deployment of high pressure machines that can safely remove graffiti from brick, stone, cement and metal with the use of baking soda. 

Building owners can request this service by signing a permission form that gives the City of Trenton authorization to remove graffiti from the property. Bagged Leaf Collection

For the fall season the division implements a bagged leaf collection for city residents.

Garbage Collection Holiday Schedule

There is No garbage, commercial cardboard, or commercial glass collection on a holiday. If any of these items is placed out for pick up, please remove it from the curb immediately. Failure to do so may result in fines. Please remember, when your regularly scheduled pick up day resumes, garbage must be set out by 7 a.m. on the day of collection, but no earlier than 10 p.m. on the night before collection; and, always recycle, it's the law.
