The City of Trenton Department of Inspections will inspect each unit for HUD’s Housing Quality Standards (HQS). The City reserves the right to conduct virtual inspections. The City reserves the right to not inspect the unit. The City reserves the right to waive the inspection on properties that have received a Certificate of Occupancy within 180 days of application.
All properties with children present under the age of 6 years old will be inspected for defective paint consistent with the requirements of 24 CFR Part 35, subpart M.
Units with existing code violations will not be considered for assistance. If the applicant is selected for assistance and the unit is determined to have existing code violations, the landlord/owner will have 15 days to correct the violations. If the violations are not corrected within 15 days, the city will choose the next eligible applicant on the list.
