Trenton, NJ -- Join us Monday, March 4 at 4:30 p.m., on the front steps of City Hall (319 East State Street) as 49ers Safety and Trenton native Ji'Ayir "Tig" Brown is presented with a key to the city.
A graduate of Trenton Central High School, Brown spent his freshman and sophomore seasons of college at Lackawanna Community College where he contributed to a Falcons team that made an appearance in the 2019 NJCAA Championship Game with a 10-1 record. He was also selected as the Northeast Football Conference's Defensive Player of the Year, named first-team All-NEFC and chosen for NJCAA All-America first team as a sophomore.
After transferring to Penn State, Brown recorded 153 tackles (nine for loss), 19 passes deflections, 10 interceptions, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. Following the 2022 season, Brown was named Penn State's team MVP and winner of the Iron Lion Award.
Brown was drafted 87th overall by the San Francisco 49ers and in his rookie campaign recorded 35 total tackles, two interceptions, and four pass deflections during the regular season. In his first post season appearance, he recorded 21 total tackles and a pass deflection as well as an interception in the Super Bowl.
