Trenton, N.J. - Mayor Reed Gusciora, joined by Public Works Director Wahab Onitiri, Assistant Director Hector Weah, Recreation Director Paul Harris, and members of the public works team, announced the results of the bulk garbage cleanup in the South Ward. From July 29 to August 3, the Public Works team went through the South Ward facilitating the proper disposal and recycling of bulk items such as furniture and yard waste from residents while also clearing the streets, sidewalks, alleyways, and parks of debris, trash, and tall grass.
A total of 65 tons was collected throughout the week, compared to the 55 tons collected during last year's cleanup.
"I want to thank our amazing Public Works team and our City Council for working together to complete the first part of this initiative. The outcome is a testament to what teamwork and dedication can accomplish,' Mayor Reed Gusciora stated. "Collecting 65 tons of bulk garbage and debris in the South Ward is a clear indicator of our commitment to keeping Trenton clean and engaging. As we move forward with the Clean Up Initiative in the North Ward, I encourage all residents to participate and help us maintain the momentum. Together, we can ensure that our neighborhoods remain safe, clean, and vibrant for everyone."
This week, the Clean Up Initiative will begin in the North Ward on Monday, August 5 and will end Saturday, August 10. Like the South Ward on Saturday, Public Works will pick up bulk household garbage (furniture, yard waste) from North Ward residents (see map and street list below). Please NO electronic waste or construction debris. Electronic items and paint may be brought to the Sanitation Yard at 707 Calhoun Street.
