City of Trenton Conducts Immediate Inspection of Former Emergency Clinic

News & Announcements Posted on June 09, 2025

Trenton, N.J. – Following Capital Health’s sudden announcement regarding the closure of its Emergency Care Clinic at the former St. Francis Hospital site, the City of Trenton’s Department of Technical Inspections conducted an immediate site inspection to assess any potential structural concerns.

Key Findings:

  • All buildings on the site are currently vacant except for the active Health Clinic located on Bert Avenue.
  • The building identified as structurally unsafe is directly attached to the facility that houses the HVAC system for the active clinic.
  • The unsafe structure poses an imminent hazard due to significant water infiltration, which has severely compromised the floor and roof systems.
  • Temporary shoring was installed in the affected structure approximately five years ago, without any prior notification or permits issued through the City of Trenton’s Technical Inspections Department.

During the inspection, city officials met on-site with Glen Campbell, Director of Facilities for Capital Health. Mr. Campbell has committed to forwarding all relevant engineering reports to the Department of Technical Inspections for review.

This report is being released in the interest of transparency and public safety, and to provide clarity to residents and stakeholders regarding the circumstances leading to the clinic’s closure.
