Trenton, N.J. — To maintain high water quality, Trenton Water Works (TWW) will conduct routine flushing of water mains in the Mercerville area of Hamilton Township from October 1 to October 9.
“TWW water-distribution system personnel will operate valves and open fire hydrants in the late evening hours to minimize inconvenience to area residents who may see brown water at the tap. This normal condition is easily rectified by allowing the water to run for up to 10 minutes until clear,” said Michael Walker, Chief of Communications and Community Relations.
Mercerville area residents should avoid doing laundry or running the dishwasher until this rinsing procedure is performed. Also, if your refrigerator is equipped with an icemaker or water dispenser, discard the ice and dispense water for approximately five minutes to clear the water from the refrigerator’s internal reservoir.
