Trenton, N.J. – Mayor W. Reed Gusciora today announced that immediately following a positive COVID-19 case involving a City of Trenton housing inspector, Trenton will temporarily limit housing inspections until several inspectors finish out their quarantine later this week.
There is only one related COVID-19 case in the Department of Housing and Economic Development so far. While none of the other inspectors under quarantine have tested positive yet, they cannot return to work until their quarantine is complete as per Trenton’s COVID-19 protocol. The City Department of Health and Human Services is following up with any individuals at the sites visited by the inspector who tested positive to verify there are no other related cases.
“Given that our inspectors are always out in the field, it’s important we don’t take any chances until we can make sure no one else is at risk,” said Mayor Gusciora. “We apologize to the residents that may experience delays as we wrap up these necessary precautions this week.”
As per a Sept. 10, 2021 update to city employee policy, all employees are required to get vaccinated by Oct. 18, 2021 or get tested every Monday and Thursday at their own cost.
