TRENTON, NJ – On December 31, 2022, at 4 p.m., the City of Trenton will be sponsoring the Assunpink Firewalk on the Historic Iron Bridge at Mill Hill Park (corner of Broad & Front Street).
After marching from the Old Barracks Museum, historical reenactors, dressed as Continental soldiers, will arrive at Mill Hill Park. There, Thomas Paine’s “The American Crisis” will be read and crescent torches, along the south bank of the Assunpink River, will be lit. This is the site where American soldiers repulsed three British attacks at the Second Battle of Trenton on January 2, 1777. Hot chocolate will be served and music will be played.
Mayor W. Reed Gusciora will be in attendance; he will be available for questions or photos.
