Trenton, N.J. - Throughout the month of August, the City of Trenton Department of Public Works and the Department of Recreation, Natural Resources & Culture will be mounting a citywide cleanup initiative.
Each Ward has been designated a week for general cleanup, culminating in a collection day on Saturday for which residents may leave items where they normally leave their garbage for collection and disposal. The Saturday assigned to each Ward is the only day for which residents should leave their items out for pickup; items left out earlier in the week will not be collected until their respective Ward’s collection date. See the schedule below, as well as guidelines on what can/cannot be left for pickup.
August 5th: Cleanup of West Ward
August 12th: Cleanup of South Ward
August 19th: Cleanup of East Ward
August 26th: Cleanup of North Ward
Items allowed for pickup include discarded furniture, refrigerators, and smaller articles. Wood (separate clean from painted) and tree branches no more than four feet in length and tied in bundles of no more than 35lbs will also be collected. These items should be placed where you normally leave your garbage by 7:00AM on their designated pickup day. The trucks will only move through each street once, so your items must be left in time to be discarded.
Tires, bricks, concrete, and construction debris will not be picked up by the City. These materials are the responsibility of the owner or contractor. Additionally, the clean-up does not apply to vacant houses, which must be cleaned out at the owner’s expense. Electronic devices, such as televisions, laptops, etc., are also not eligible for pickup under the Electronic Waste Management Act.
