The City recently announced the completion of the first phase of the pilot project of its New Beginnings Housing program. The pilot project designated City resident, Vanessa Solivan, as the redeveloper of an abandoned city-owned property. Vanessa now owns this property and construction work to rehabilitate the house has commenced.
We are encouraged by the outpouring of interest in the program, but need to stress that the program IS STILL IN THE DEVELOPMENT STAGE AND NOT READY TO BE ROLLED OUT ON A WIDER SCALE. We therefore kindly ask that residents not come to Trenton City Hall with questions about this pilot. We are developing a guidebook to streamline the program’s processes and procedures based upon the lessons learned from Ms. Solivan’s experience and also assessing its financial parameters and limitations.
