Trenton, N.J. -  The City of Trenton has announced its next phase proposed city vacant properties to be considered for demolition or rehabilitation under the State’s Neighborhood Redevelopment and Revitalization Pilot (NRRP) Program. The list features 135 abandoned residential structures designated for demolition or properties identified as attractive candidates for rehabilitation.

“I want to thank our City Council, community stakeholders and neighborhood residents for their efforts to identify vacant and abandoned properties slated for demolition or rehabilitation,” said Mayor Gusciora. “The City is working in conjunction with the State Department of Community Affairs (DCA), the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (HMFA), as well as the 15th Legislative Delegation to ensure state grant dollars will be utilized for the project. Our goal is to not only promote economic growth but provide self-owned, new residential homes across the City.”

With an abundance of vacant and abandoned properties in the Capital City’s inventory, Trenton’s Department of Housing and Economic Development (HED) partnered with the City's Division of Inspections and DCA/HMFA to evaluate the properties for inclusion in the NRRP and begin a marketable portfolio for future home ownership.

“The NRRP Pilot Reimbursement Program provides the City of Trenton with the opportunity to transition the blighted, distressed, undersized properties into something that brings a higher quality of life for all Trentonians,” concluded Mayor Gusciora. “This program will bring more resilient home values, enhance the quality of life in our neighborhoods and help facilitate more owner-occupied homes in our City.”
