Trenton, N.J. – The City of Trenton's Department of Recreation hosted its first ever “Pink Out Bowl”, on Saturday, October 18th at Capital City Sports Complex bringing out the community for an afternoon of flag football and breast cancer awareness.
The game featured Team Black (made up of staff from the City of Trenton’s Department of Recreation, Health and Human Services, and the Water Department) vs Team Pink (consisting of members from the Trenton Police Department, Trenton Police Community Affairs Unit, and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.) In the end, it was Team Pink that left with the victory!
During halftime a QB throwing competition allowed three audience members to join in on the fun. Three attendees were chosen at random through a raffle to win varying prizes. The first place winner won two tickets to a Philadelphia Eagles game, second place won a $150 gift card to Rally Sports and third place won a pink gift basket including breast-cancer theme apparel and fall essentials.
Spectators also watched performances by Magnetic Force and the Jersey Divas, along with delicious foods including hot dogs, fried Oreos, funnel cake, and pink lemonade. A variety of vendors joined the event, including a bloom bar by Vannetti Fiori where attendees could create all-pink floral bouquets in honor of breast cancer awareness.
Also present were informational booths from the New Jersey Department of Health and the City of Trenton Department of Health, both of which shared vital resources and education to help raise awareness and support early detection of breast cancer.
