Trenton, N.J. – The City's Abandoned Property Program has received an unprecedented level of community participation. This overwhelming response shows that residents, investors, and neighborhood stakeholders are committed to revitalizing our city and investing in Trenton's future.
Because of this exceptional demand, starting November 21, 2025, at 4:00 p.m., there will be a temporary pause in accepting new applications for the Abandoned Property Program. This pause will allow city staff to process existing applications efficiently and advance the +150 property transfers already approved by City Council.
This brief pause will:
- Reduce the existing backlog,
- Refine the application, and
- Update the property inventory list to provide the most accurate information available.
Applications submitted before 4:00 p.m. on November 21 will not be subjected to the pause. The program will reopen for new applications once the backlog has been addressed. The City remains committed to revitalizing abandoned properties, supporting neighborhood development, and promoting safe communities.
