Trash collection is suspended tomorrow (Thursday, June 8). New Jersey’s air quality index measures the quality of air based on pollution levels and has deemed the air quality to be unhealthy. The City of Trenton strongly urges everyone – including those with heart or lung disease, the elderly, and the young – to stay safe and limit strenuous activities and the amount of time active outdoors. For people who work outdoors or need to be outside: Take more breaks indoors if possible and shorten the length and intensity of physical activity.
Do not rely on dust masks for protection. These masks will not protect your lungs from smoke. People who must be outside can have some protection from an N95 mask if worn properly.
We will continue to monitor this situation as it unfolds.
