City Spreads Awareness of Free Access to Virtual Court Sessions

News & Announcements Posted on July 22, 2023

Trenton N.J. – The City of Trenton is raising awareness of a free service in partnership with the Trenton Municipal Court and Trenton Free Public Library that will better allow Trentonians to attend virtual court sessions.

During the pandemic, municipal courts in New Jersey transitioned to virtual sessions. However, many throughout the City and State did not have access to the necessary technologies in order to attend these court sessions, leaving many cases unaddressed.

To address this issue, the Trenton Municipal Court has implemented free internet access and equipment at the Trenton Public Library for defendants, victims, and involved parties to utilize and attend their virtual court sessions. Registration is required and can be made at the municipal court or through communication with the municipal court customer service email account, trentoncourts@trentonnj.com.

Mayor Reed Gusciora stated, “We are excited to publicly roll out our court program. In the privacy of each cubicle and with the assistance of court personnel, Trentonians with no Internet access, no email addresses, or computer can come to the Trenton Free Public Library to participate in their court session remotely.”

Access is open Monday to Friday for the 9AM court sessions. Support from municipal court staff is also available on-site.

Trenton Chief Municipal Court Judge Marc A. McKithen affirmed, “The Trenton Municipal Court team proudly offers this court service to allow access to the Trenton Community.”
