Division of Housing Production

HousingThe Division of Housing Production works with private housing developers to increase the supply of quality housing in the City and to ensure economic diversity through new construction and rehabilitation projects. These goals are accomplished using federal, state and City funds.

Our purpose is to preserve the housing stock by rehabilitating dilapidated homes and building new homes on in-fill lots that complement the character and preserve the integrity of the great neighborhoods in our city. To this end, we support market-rate projects and housing for working families and manage key programs to assist home buyers, and help residents make home improvements.

Historic Structures

The City of Trenton has many historic structures (51% of Cracker Factorythe structures were built prior to 1939) and federally designated historic areas, and many vital and thriving neighborhoods. The Division of Housing Production with the help of financial institutions, state and federal partners have demonstrated a willingness to partner with residents to address blight.

The goal is to provide a strong framework/model that will extend the benefits of revitalization to all Trenton neighborhoods by preserving the city’s unique assets while addressing pressing challenges.
